Marente Village, Alas District
Agal Waterfall
A ten-tiered waterfall roughly 100 metres tall, hidden inside the Mount Agal protected forest.
Agal Waterfall sits in Dusun Beru, Marente Village, Alas District, inside the Mount Agal protected forest. It falls in ten tiers with a total height of around 100 metres, with strong, clear water. Because it sits deep in the forest and is only reachable on foot, the setting remains very natural — quite different from waterfalls you can drive right up to.

- Located within the Mount Agal protected forest
- A trekking trail that crosses the Marente River
- A still-untouched rainforest setting
Travel Information
From Sumbawa Besar City, it's about 70 kilometres to Alas District and on to Marente Village. Coming from Poto Tano Harbour, it's much closer — around 15 to 23 kilometres, roughly a 30-minute drive. From the last parking point, the trek continues for about two hours, crossing the Marente River, footpaths, and rocky, slippery terrain. Bring grippy footwear and a change of clothes, since your feet will get wet crossing the river.
